General Information

Pattaya and the Near East contain the beach resorts most easily accessible from Bangkok, of which Pattaya and its neighboring bays are by far the most important. Pattaya is Thailand's most famous resort, perhaps with at least a touch of extra spice for its rather wild nightlife. But there is much more to Pattaya than the night life - take or leave as much of the night life as you want and enjoy superb accommodation, food and the facilities of a truly international resort.

Pattaya's own 4km beach is complemented by nearby beaches, especially Jomtien beach, a little way south, which is a long beach and the base for lots of water sports. On land, there are masses of tourist attractions to enjoy, including a Crocodile Farm, a Tiger Farm and an Elephant Village. On the beach you can enjoy windsurfing, parasailing, swimming and just plain sun bathing!

Off shore there are islands with beautiful beaches and coral reefs, to explore in glass bottomed boats or snorkeling and diving. Further out into the Gulf are more islands for day long diving trips and there are trips of one or more days to the diving sites of the Far East. You can go deep sea fishing for King Mackerel and Barracuda, on a day trip or charter a boat for a longer tour. Sailing boats can be rented by the hour or day, single or multi-hulls, a 14 foot dinghy or a 53 foot catamaran which can sleep 8 - experienced crew available.

Pattaya has some superb restaurants and luxury hotels and resorts. Accommodation to suit every taste, some hotels are complete resorts in themselves and there is no need to wander outside unless you want to. Nearby U-Tapao airport offers daily connections to Samui, but most people arrive on one of the new highways from Bangkok - which then head on to the Far East.

Pattaya is perhaps Thailand's most famous resort with a series of beaches and islands to offer seaside fun or just plain sunbathing. The amazing variety of tourist attractions includes a cast of elephants, tigers, crocodiles, zebra and million year old stones as well as lots of people dedicated to making your holiday fun through shows, sports and good food!

There are temples, cultural traditions and natural attractions which continue into the surrounding hinterland and exploration to Bangkok and beyond.

The wealth of activities include: a feast of 18 golf courses, year round diving and snorkeling opportunities, diving courses to acquire and improve skills, some sailing in tropical seas, and deep sea fishing.

Excellent transport infrastructure easily permits exploration trips to the natural, historic and cultural sights of nearby regions.

The activity of a modern resort maybe creates a need for some quiet meditation, and opportunities are available to meet the need.
