Getting Around

Transport between Pattaya and Bangkok or surrounding places is by road. There are no taxis or bus services within Pattaya, only pickup trucks with benches - hotels will often arrange their own transport, hire cars are a good idea if you plan to travel very much, and walking is good for you!

By Air
U Thapao, south of Pattaya, has a superb runway - designed for fully laden B52s - some charter flights and a single daily scheduled flight.

By Rail

A single daily, third class, non-air conditioned train is the only train serving the resorts of the Eastern Seaboard. It takes twice as long as the air conditioned buses.

By Bus

Buses to the east leave Bangkok from Ekkamai bus station on Sukhumvit road, but many tourists simply take a taxi, private hire vehicle or hotel bus to Pattaya.

By Boat

There are many pleasure trips along the coast but little serious transport as most of the offshore islands are small and lack either facilities or permanent population
